Cutting-edge Equipment at the Obstetric & Gynecologic Ultrasound Unit at Emek Medical Center
- Medical Equipment
The Ultrasound unit performs gynecological and obstetric ultrasounds for all the units of the department and performs also outpatient examinations for the community coming from all HMOs. The unit is composed by 4 rooms including 3 examination rooms. The staff includes 4 physicians, 7 physicians in training, 2 technicians and a nurse. The ultrasound unit has also seen an increase in the number of ultrasound examinations performed in the recent years.
In addition, invasive procedures are performed in the unit: mainly amniocentesis but also Chorionic villus sampling (which is a prenatal test that diagnosis genetic conditions in a fetus by looking at cells samples from the placenta) and other tests for women with fertility problems.
In order to respond on the best ways to the increase of the activities in the OB-GYN department and in the Ultrasound unit, we plan to open two additional examinations rooms in the Ultrasound unit where physicians and technicians will work. It is anticipated that approximately 70 to 80 examinations per month will take place in each of the additional rooms.
The need: the most advanced ultrasound machine for ultrasound units dedicated to obstetrics, gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine
This cutting-age Imaging platform will be used in the ultrasound unit in an additional examination room that will open after being renovated.
The equipment will enable to perform complicated ultrasound examinations of pregnant women including when there is a suspected problem in the development of the fetus. It will also enable ultrasound examinations in the field of gynecology and fertility.
It combines advanced imaging capabilities (2D and 3D) with efficiency and security features as well as AI support.
The artificial intelligence features indeed provide help in the identification of anatomical structures during the examination, in the evaluation of the health of the fetus’s heart through step-by-step guidance which saves time. It also automatically generates cuts of the brain.
Thanks to this additional advanced ultrasound platform, we will be able to provide the best quality of care, respond to the increase of the activity of the department and improve the services provided by the Emek Medical Center to the population we serve.
The Emek Medical Center will provide an important matching for this project, that includes the renovation costs for the new examination room.
Delivery time of the project (renovation of the examination room + equipment): maximum of 3 months.
